Valentina Herrera

I was born in a small town in Ukraine, so grew up with an aspiration to get myself an education & a professional job one day. I happened later when I graduated from a local university with a humanities degree & came to London to study law in the evening while working full-time during the day.

Today, I am a Londoner & a happy mum of a boisterous & funny 12 year old boy, living in a multicultural family with close connections to Eastern Europe as well as Latin America.

My day job is a senior wealth management counsel at UBS AG, which involves handling regulatory matters, executing structured lending transactions & advising on structured retail products & funds. I have over 25 years of overall professional experience gained in the City of London, including private legal practice, investment banking & asset management.

I am passionate about D,E&I and am proud to think that I have been able to contribute to driving positive change at the bank, first by setting up a brand new diversity committee for the legal function & later by launching and running a Hispanic Latino Affinity Group within the global legal team. I actively participate in various D,E&I related employee forums (e.g. gender, ethnicity & cultural networks) too. I competed D,E&I Ambassador & Inclusive Leadership courses over the last couple of years & have recent experience of building diverse teams & developing talent.

Outside work, I enjoy art, travel, yoga & learning about wine. I hold a Level 2 certificate in Spirits & Wine from the Wine & Spirits Education Trust.

I look forward to bringing my skills & experience to the Diversity Project!
