Ula McDonnell

Managing Director, Head of Human Capital Management EMEA & LATAM

I am white British with Irish parents. I went to an all-girls catholic school in Enfield in North London and left school at 18 and joined a Construction Company near Warren Street as an HR Assistant by accident rather than by design.

I joined JP Morgan as an HR Assistant in 1994 and realized that if I wanted to make a career in HR I really needed to obtain a professional qualification which I did by studying for the CIPD Post Graduate diploma at Westminster University for 2 years part time, while also working full time at JPM.

During my time at JPM I rotated through 6 different roles in a 6 year period and decided that an HR generalist role was the path I wanted to pursue. My passion for E, I & D began to develop while at JPM and has continued through my 28 year career in Financial Services which includes HR roles with Nomura International, Commerzbank, Piper Jaffray, Columbia Threadneedle and Legg Mason.

I am currently Head of HCM for EMEA and LatAm at Neuberger Berman. I chair both the Women’s Forum and the E, I & D Committee in EMEA.

I am married with 3 teenage sons and a stepdaughter.
