Dr Melvina Metochi

I was born in Cyprus and moved to the UK at the age of 17.

My working life started as a researcher and lecturer in Human Resource Management and then I moved onto contracting in Healthcare and Banking.

I spent the better part of my professional life in Financial Services, with a focus on Investment Management and Wealth. My most recent role has been with HSBC, leading Wealth in EMEA/UK.

I am passionate about inclusion, and highlights of my experience include leading initiatives on inclusive leadership and creating inclusive cultures, as well as pushing for greater representation across diversity groups. Considerable progress has been made in my 24 years in the industry, but there is more to do. Great to see the emphasis that regulators and investors are increasingly placing in this area.

My connection with the Diversity project came early on, when the HSBC Asset Management D&I Business Sponsor at the time asked me to lead a pilot Returners programme, in collaboration with the Diversity project. I am excited to now join the Diversity Project as an Ambassador, to help influence the continuing progress in the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (or EDI) space within the industry.
