Diversity Project LGBT+

A forum for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT+) professionals and their allies working in the investment and savings industry. This is an alliance of organisations, individuals and strategic partners working together to empower and enable LGBT+ people, collaborating on initiatives to increase industry engagement and help us achieve our goals.

LGBT Great

LGBT Great is a specialist membership organisation focused on measuring and improving LGBT+ diversity and inclusion maturity within the investment and savings industry through insights, visibility and outreach programs. The initiative was launched in 2017 and has attracted global attention in three continents and grown to a community of 2000 people across the industry.

LGBT Great launched a corporate membership in November 2018 with five founding firms including T Rowe Price, Fidelity, St James Place Wealth Management, Northern Trust and Legal & General Investment Management.

 Their aims are to:

  • Make LGBT+ diversity and inclusion relevant to everybody
  • Engage industry leadership on the LGBT+ diversity and inclusion agenda
  • Develop innovative research, data and thought leadership insights
  • Establish and amplify the visibility of LGBT+ and ally talent and member initiatives
  • Substantiate improvement with fit for purpose industry metrics

 How to get involved:

  1. At an individual level - through free participation in our role model Project 1000 drive: https://www.lgbtgreat.com/role-models
  2. At a business level - by joining as a subscribed Core Member to lead and participate the industry agenda.
  3. At a business level - by joining as a subscribed Foundation Member to participate in the industry agenda.

LGBT Great works collaboratively with other initiatives such as the Diversity Project in the UK and North America, Investment2020 and InterInvest.

We believe that diversity of perspective is the key to developing the best possible solutions for the industry. The initiative is overseen by the Executive, which provides support with funding, strategy and leadership.

The Advisory Group is made up of representatives from Core Member firms to provide strategic input, review progress and impact across the industry. The strategy is delivered by the LGBT Great team in collaboration with Member firms. To become a member please email [email protected]

 

InterInvest

InterInvest exists to drive LGBT+ equality and inclusion across the investment industry in the UK, and supports similar initiatives globally.

InterInvest was established in 2018. It aims to:

  • Provide an open forum for investment peers to discuss LGBT+ issues
  • Share best practice within the industry and enable firm to firm mentoring to provide support to in-house LGBT+ networks
  • Promote and influence LGBT+ inclusion across the investment industry
  • Attract and retain LGBT+ talent into the investment industry
  • Engage allies and promote allyship, drawing on other intersectional networks with similar experiences

Our network of investment peers forms part of the LGBT workstream of the Diversity Project. InterInvest works alongside the IA and LGBT Great to fulfil our aims.

The organisation officially launched at an event held on 10 July 2019. InterInvest will be co-hosting, with several investment firms, an event focusing on diversity and recruitment in October 2019

The Investment Association

The Investment Association (IA) is the industry body that represents investment managers in the UK. Our 250+ members employ 100,000 people in the UK.

We promote UK investment management, actively engaging with policymakers and other stakeholders in the UK and around the world to shape the investment landscape and ensure that our members are able to deliver the best outcome for savers and investors.

As the champion of the investment management industry, we support our members in fostering a healthy culture in their own firms. This includes developing best practice diversity and inclusion policy and building diversity through an early careers programme run by Investment20/20.

We have taken an active role in promoting LGBT+ inclusivity in the industry by publishing the ‘Bringing our Whole Selves to Work’ report, which sets out twelve key steps organisations can take to create more inclusive workplaces.
