Webinar – How to implement flexible working for a thriving, age inclusive workforce

Date: 02/10/2020

The Diversity Project was delighted to launch a new report by Timewise and The Centre for Ageing Better on how to enhance flexible working for older workers.

Over the past decade we have seen an unparalleled increase in both the number and proportion of older workers contributing to the UK economy. With one in three workers over the age of 50, flexible working is the number one workplace practice that would allow them to work for longer.

Whilst COVID created a fundamental shift in the UK’s working practices, with flexible working becoming the default for many, it also shone a light on the risks as well as opportunities for more and better flexible working.

The webinar covered:

  • Insights from this eighteen months collaboration on how to support the over 50s to access flexible working
  • Legal and General, one of the leading employers taking part in this programme, explained how they enhanced their approach for older workers
  • Explored lessons learnt for how to drive change within financial services to ensure more inclusive approaches to sustaining flexible working for an age-diverse workforce
  • Discussed the case for action through improved employee wellbeing and motivation, to talent recruitment and retention, to the wider contribution to inclusion and diversity

The following panellists shared their experiences:

  • Ana Maria Tuliak, Chair of SMART Working, The Diversity Project
  • Emma Stewart, CEO Timewise
  • Philip Anderson, Chief Operating Officer, Legal and General Retirements Institutional Division
  • Patrick Thomson, Centre for Ageing Better
  • Muriel Tersago, Timewise
