Demystifying Disability Confident: Practical ways forward

We hosted an informative hybrid event with diversity leaders as we discussed the Disability Confident Scheme (DC) and practical ways for Member Firms to advance disability inclusion in the workplace.

We were delighted to welcome Tom Pursglove MP, Minister of State for Disabled People, Health and Work, and Beth Kume-Holland, CEO of Patchwork Hub, for a fireside chat. Together, they discussed the everyday experience of disabled people at work, explained the DC Scheme, and described its interplay with the government’s Disability Action Plan and strategy for making the UK a more inclusive and accessible society for everyone.

We also held a conversation with a panel of Diversity Project member firms who had signed up to the DC Scheme. The panellists shared their firms’ journeys, key challenges, benefits gained, and key recommendations for other firms starting out.

During networking, we welcomed service providers and workstream representatives who offered support in DC applications and journeys.

This event included captioning, and a British Sign Language interpreter was present.
