The objective of the research is to understand:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Experience, qualifications, backgrounds and motivations of the people who work in the UK investment and savings industry<\/li>\n<li>How they entered IM and what they love and don\u2019t love about their work<\/li>\n<li>Culture and practices of the companies for which they work<\/li>\n<li>The views of those who work in other areas of financial services<\/li>\n<li>What it would take to improve diversity in IM.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Diversity will be explored across all dimensions \u2013 age, gender and cultural and socio-economic background.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" size-full wp-image-2338\" src=\"https:\/\/diversityproject.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/survey-animated.gif\" alt=\"Animated points from the survey\" width=\"1000\" height=\"512\" data-entity-type=\"file\" data-entity-uuid=\"b3248571-61bf-48cb-a67e-a7ae6c2d25d2\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Led by Mercer and supported by leaders from the investment and savings industries\u2019 biggest institutions, this research will gather views from three main groups:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Investment Managers<\/li>\n<li>Former Investment Managers<\/li>\n<li>Other employees working in Investment Management.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>The survey will establish a benchmark for diversity within the Investment Management (IM) sector in the United Kingdom.<\/p>\n<p>While there have been a number of studies exploring barriers to diversity in financial services, and some looking in particular at IM, none have specifically explored perceptions and barriers throughout the lifecycle from university onwards.
