30 years in the investment sector shows that you can enjoy a stimulating career and make time for your family. For me this was based on a solid professional foundation, being keen to learn and having open-minded employers.
At Fidelity I was an investment analyst. In 1993 I moved to be the industry trade association’s director of communications. After my 2nd child, I helped find my successor, and went part-time in a new role to provide training for sector employees and education for investors.
I was a founder and trustee of pfeg, the personal finance education charity, and supported the set-up of Investment2020.
Since becoming self-employed in Jan 2017, I continue to encourage greater diversity in investment firms’ recruitment strategies as an adviser to Investment2020 and a Diversity Project ambassador.
