I was born in Johannesburg and came to England when I was 11. Instead of ending up as a game warden (!) I went on to study Law at Durham University, and then qualified at the Bar.
Recognising that my skills were best suited to the financial world I joined an American bank to get a very thorough training, and have subsequently spent my career in the Private Equity industry. That involved time as a Managing Director of Barclays Private Equity, and a Managing Partner of JP Morgan Partners, before establishing as Founding CEO, the Business Growth Fund (“BGF”) in 2011, now the largest growth capital investor in the UK with £2.5bn AUM, 16 offices and a portfolio of 350 investments.
I am married with three children and live in Sussex.
