Sisieta Owen

I am of Nigerian origin, born in the uk and raised by Nigerian parents alongside my five siblings and as the youngest of six children. My family migrated back to Nigeria in my early years and I had the lifetime opportunity of attending a Nigerian Boarding school.  A “Lifetime opportunity” because it provided untaught life disciplines, whilst cementing my strong cultural values. One of such values being working hard to turn your dreams into a reality, I returned to the UK after secondary school at age 16 in a focused pursuit of my defined career within financial markets.

Majoring in Economics and further Econometrics studies, I began my career at HSBC Investment & Wealth Management analysing and advising on investment portfolios across the HNW client population whilst also attaining a series of professional qualifications. Seven years later I moved across into Regulatory & Compliance Risk at Brewin Dolphin Asset Management, providing regulatory risk assurance on the investment management business and monitoring of the managed portfolios whilst also being a regional lead for a national regulatory change management project on portfolio Suitability. This propelled me into my current role at Bloomberg LP, where I’ve developed and manage the EMEA Compliance Monitoring Programme across the EMEA regulated entities and now extending the programme globally into U.S and APAC as part of a broader global initiative.

My career trajectory has been a humbling experience and has given me a platform to bring others along through various forms of mentoring at various levels. I’m a strong advocate for recognising and appreciating individual and cultural differences.  As a chair of the Bloomberg Black Professional Community and EMEA Diversity & Inclusion council representative, I’m able to drive this agenda within the industry and contribute towards breaking the barriers around ethnicity.

Most overarchingly, I’m a mum of two amazing little boys who have greatly deepened my passion for paving the way! So, my spare time is spent educating, entertaining & exploring! I am inspired by truth and integrity.
