I am a white British female, born and raised in Buckinghamshire, and educated at a local comprehensive school. Diagnosed with dyslexia at a young age, I was fortunate to have parents who provided additional support outside of school, including Saturday school and a tutor. Despite the support, I kept this private, due to the uncertainty of being treated differently—a decision I now find unfortunate in retrospect as I am proud of what I have achieved.
After completing my A-levels, undecided about my career path, I chose not to attend university. Instead, I pursued a one-year Professional Business Diploma. This led to my first role as an Executive Assistant close to home. Still exploring my career interests, I completed the CIPD HR Level 3 qualification while working, which sparked my passion for HR. This desire drove me to seek a role in the big city, where my HR career truly began. This early experience and having dyslexia deeply influenced my belief in equitable opportunities for all.
Currently, I hold my first role in the Financial Services industry as an EMEA Senior HR Associate at Russell Investments. In this position, I apply a DEI lens to HR business and processes, identifying opportunities to enhance equity, diversity, and inclusion.
