I am a London-born woman of Indian heritage, my father was born in Malawi, and my mother in India. I grew up in Newham, the most ethnically diverse district in England and Wales, and one of the London boroughs with the highest rates of poverty. I studied Literature at the University of Edinburgh and also spent a year at the University of California. These were amazing experiences that broadened my horizons. However, I feel uneasy knowing that most of the children that I grew up with didn’t get to access the educational opportunities that I did, despite their talents.
I joined PensionBee in 2016 as the seventh employee and helped some of our very first customers bring their pensions online. I now focus on research, press work, and social responsibility at the company. Prior to joining PensionBee, I participated in the Teach First program as a Secondary School Mathematics Teacher.
Outside of work, I love creating! I’m currently working on a short story about the Malawian Gujarati diaspora in London. Previous projects include a Bollywood drag king act and a short film about a religious village in India where my grandfather spent many years.
