I am an equity fund manager with over 20 years’ experience in the asset management industry having worked in numerous firms including Janus Henderson. Dalton Strategic Partnership (acquired by Polar Capital) and presently Kuwait Investment Office, the sovereign wealth fund.
I am born and raised in London and come from Pakistani descent. My parents came to the UK in the 1970s from East Africa having left after a change in the political climate. I feel fortunate that whilst growing up my parents encouraged me to focus on my education. The result was that I studied at King’s College London with a degree in Mathematics and Management. I am also a CFA charter holder. As a member of an ethnic minority, I am acutely aware of the under-representation of minorities in our industry and the challenges that can be experienced.
I greatly value trying to foster new talent and wanting people to realise their aspirations. This led me to volunteer for a charity called One Degree, which provides mentoring, support and role models to low performing GCSE students in inner-city London to encourage schoolchildren to believe in themselves and aspire for higher.
In my spare time, I like to spend as much time with my young family, trying to keep fit at the gym and following Spurs for my sins.
