I am a middle aged, balding and bespectacled white male, but I am also the son of a decorator and a cleaner, and educated at a comprehensive school. I was the first member of my family to take ‘A’ Levels let alone enter higher education. Reading Natural Sciences at Cambridge University I graduated with first class honours and was subsequently the top student in my MBA class at Cranfield. I am an embodiment of socio-economic diversity and social mobility.
I became Chief Executive of LGPS Central in 2019. LGPSC was established to manage the pooled LGPS investment assets of Cheshire, Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Nottinghamshire, Shropshire, Staffordshire, West Midlands and Worcestershire. The company currently has 80 employees and is based in Wolverhampton. We are building the capabilities to become responsible for c.£55bn of assets, managed on behalf of almost 1 million pension scheme members and c.2000 participating employers.
Previously I served as the first CEO of the Pensions Infrastructure Platform, a specialist infrastructure investment manager, Chief Investment Officer for the pension schemes of DMGT plc and have over 30 years of UK pensions and investment management industry experience.
