I am originally from Prague in the Czech Republic. From a young age, I have lived an international life which saw me attend a different school approximately every two years, in Prague, Birmingham and Hamburg, before I finished my studies at the University of Edinburgh. This experience has taught me first-hand about the benefits of a diverse and inclusive environment. In the schools where I felt included and accepted, I was able to thrive, and I felt empowered to aspire to whatever I set my mind to.
I have worked in wealth and asset management for over a decade, initially as an investment analyst and more recently in client relationship roles. Over that time, I have been lucky to have had many role models and mentors who have taken the time to offer me advice and guidance. Without this support, I might have been held back. Therefore, I strongly believe that more formal early career and mentoring initiatives are essential for our industry to attract and retain the best talent from more diverse backgrounds.
It is because of these personal experiences that I am a strong believer in the aims and objectives of the Diversity Project. Whilst I have been encouraged by the greater focus on diversity and inclusion in our industry, I think it is essential to have an organisation such as the Diversity Project setting standards and holding members and the wider industry accountable to those. I am delighted to be able to contribute to that effort as an Ambassador.
