Marilyn Swinney

I am a Sri Lankan-Chinese mixed race Christian from Malaysia. I was born with a genetic disorder called Stargardt’s disease which has a prognosis of progressive blindness.

I am a CFA charterholder and have worked nearly 20 years primarily on the buy side in various roles from Risk to Business Development in the UK and Asia.

I am passionate about seeing more inclusion of people of determination and diverse-ability (Disabilities/ Neuroabilities) particularly young talent who do not yet #BelieveWeBelong in this sector.

For many years, as one with a more “hidden” disability, being severely visually impaired, I had been afraid to step out and be counted. However, being a mother of 3, I find 3 more reasons to want to make a difference for the future generations.  I have become a Business Ambassador for Ambitious about Autism and have worked with other charities like Visually Impaired Children Taking Action (VICTA), and Blind in Business.

I am thrilled to be a part of the incredible Disability workstream team and thus help advance the mission of the Diversity Project in this area.
