Laura Brown

I am white British (growing up in the middle of the countryside in Warwickshire), and studied English Literature at university with absolutely no idea about what direction I wanted to go in.  I started my career in the graduate scheme at M&G in 2002 and have worked in lots of areas of the business, and today lead our Strategic Planning and Market intelligence teams.  I work four days a week and have recently returned to the business (and the industry) after a 5 year break which included having three children and setting up my own confectionery business.

I’m really interested in supporting women both joining and progressing in the industry, particularly when it comes to returning to work after a career break and the benefits of flexible working practices.  I’m passionate about career development for people, whether that’s through structured or informal means – as well as being a mentor and mentee several times, which has been very rewarding.
