Juan Grana

I was born in Spain and moved to the UK as child growing up in a very diverse community in London.  After studying physics at the University of Oxford I have spent over 20 years in finance.  I started at Oliver Wyman as strategy consultant focused on risk management. I then spent over a decade at Credit Suisse in various roles across risk management and fixed income. After another 5 years in investment banking, this time at Nomura, I joined ArrowMark Partners in 2018 as part of the Securitized Products investment team investing globally in structured credit. I have set up ArrowMark’s London office and act as a director for ArrowMark International.

Throughout my career I have seen the incredible power that diversity brings to teams. I have supported a number of diversity initiatives in particular those focused on improving gender diversity in our industry, involving both mentoring, supporting career development and more diverse recruitment.  And yet the reality is that most of my colleagues, most of my clients and counterparties throughout my career have been men. Despite significant efforts, and significant progress, women remain severely underrepresented in our industry especially in more senior roles.

Beyond work, I am married to a neurosurgeon and support her in her own efforts to equality in her own field. I also have four children and I am very involved in their care, upbringing and education; I am a parent representative at my son’s school where I also focus on supporting gender equality.

I am passionate about equality and I am very excited to become a Diversity Project ambassador to help in the next phase of our work.
