Jenny Segal

I was brought up in Middlesex, amidst a family of doctors and dentists.  My grandparents were second generation immigrants working as dressmakers in the East End; it was their hard work and determination that enabled my parents to attain university degrees and professional careers.

I joined the asset management industry in the 1990s after studying Maths at university and qualifying as an actuary.  I’ve spent most of my working life on the client servicing and sales side of the business, going on to lead European distribution teams for several different firms.  I have now transitioned to a portfolio-style career, taking on various part-time industry roles alongside working as a public speaker www.jennysegal.co.uk.

The industry has changed a lot over the last thirty years: there used to be very few women, which was something of a shock having come from an all girls’ school and college.  Whilst we are more diverse now, there is still a way to go and I believe it’s very important to develop open, welcoming cultures that allow people from different backgrounds to thrive.

When I’m not working or being entertained by my three fabulous sons, I spend my time preparing for a piano diploma, running half-marathons and taking (what I hope are) beautiful photographs.
