Irene Sirawa

My career has centred within Pensions and Investment management, having worked as an accountant at the Environment Agency Pension Fund and BAE Systems Pension Funds Investment Management. I have worked with teams analysing the integrity of data, facilitated operations and engaged broadly with various third parties in the industry.

I migrated to the UK from Kenya in 2007 having been raised in a culture which, despite having its own prejudices, never presented glass ceilings around race. Therefore, the idea of excellence has always been a matter of ability, opportunity, hard work and determination rather than a question of one’s racial identity.

Outside of work, I volunteer with a charity which supports African and Caribbean Medical students in realising their ambitions. I lead an active lifestyle and enjoy reading.
