I went to a state school in Yorkshire, where I became fascinated by science, so I studied physics at Cambridge University. There, I heard about “sustainable development”, which has become the defining theme in my career.
After completing a graduate degree in public policy, I spent some time as a management consultant before, in 1998, founding Impax Asset Management, which is dedicated to investing in the transition to a more sustainable economy. We’re a growing company with a diverse team based on three continents that’s committed to building an inclusive culture.
Today, as well as running Impax, I sit on the boards of several groups that are promoting sustainable development. I’m married and have two teenage children.
