I am Hong Kong Chinese and grew with my mother and English stepfather, straddling two cultures. I have lived in Hong Kong, London, Singapore and Boston, and have chosen London, which in my mind is the most diverse of cities, to be my permanent home.
I studied Politics and Economics at Durham University and returned to Hong Kong for a number of years as an equities analyst at Swiss Banking Corporation International just as the Chinese equity market opened to foreign investors.
For most of my career I have been an Asian and emerging markets portfolio manager and I co-founded a specialist boutique, Rexiter Capital Management, in a joint venture with State Street.
More recently, I have worked for the Bank of England’s Prudential Regulation Authority and Edison Investment Research. I am the Independent Investment Advisor to the Joseph Rowntree Charitable Trust and Non-Executive Director of the JPMorgan Emerging Markets Investment Trust.
