I am a Northerner at heart who was born in Singapore and spent my early years growing up in my Mother’s home country of Fiji! I believe having this insight into different cultures as a child belonging to a large extended family that consists of different religions, nationalities and living across multiple continents shaped my outlook on life from an early age.
I received my History degree in Liverpool before moving down to Greater London. I have worked in the Financial industry in many guises, starting in credit cards, moving to custody banking and now working in asset management. I have done marketing, client services and am now a Director at RBC Global Asset Management in their Business Development Team. I also hold the Prince 2 Practitioner Certificate and CFA ESG qualification.
I am passionate about mentoring and seeing people reach their true potential. In 2019 I received a Highly Commended award by Professional Pensions in their Rising Star Awards and was a finalist in the Women in Pensions Award that year too. I believe my drive came from being a single Mother for seven years and seeing how unfairly this industry can treat people with external demands on their time. It’s easy to let the demands of our industry drive good people out, so I want to help them stay instead. I am Co-Chair of RBC’s UK RWomen network to help support and promote gender equality in the workplace.
Being a Mother my spare time tends to be dedicated to being a taxi service to my daughters dance needs! However when I do have time to myself I volunteer my time to train others on the importance of diversity and inclusion and also sustainability.
