Having studied Human Biology at the University of Birmingham, it was not necessarily a given that I would establish my career within investment management. Following university, I worked in several industries gaining experience in a wide variety of roles, before deciding to pursue a career within the investment management industry. Since then, have worked in a number of roles before taking up my current position at Liontrust Asset Management.

Throughout my life I have encountered situations where diversity has been lacking in one way or another and continues to do so. I have witnessed first-hand the effect that socio-economic backgrounds can have; my parents came from vastly different backgrounds and the opportunities afforded to one were not reciprocated. Whilst separated by a generation, sadly a lot of the prejudices still linger.

Given the broad spectrum of people in our society, I’m aware I may not have direct experience of many prejudices and challenges, however we can all learn more about the experiences of others, understand the ways in which we can make a difference and navigate making positive change.
