I am state school educated and was largely raised by a single parent. My background is working class and I’m of mixed ethnic heritage (Irish and Indian). I have been in the asset management industry for 15 years and believe it is a natural home for people with enquiring minds. I try to put mine to good use as a Multi Asset portfolio manager, specialising in responsible investment and asset allocation.
The investment and savings industry plays an important positive role in many people’s lives, often without them being aware of it. I think it has the potential to make an even more positive impact, but to do so it must better represent society in general. As co-lead the Diversity Project’s Social Mobility workstream, I hope to improve diversity within our industry and to make it more accessible to naturally inquisitive people, particularly those from less advantaged socio-economic backgrounds.
