I am white British. I live in Manchester. I went to a comprehensive school followed by college and work. I have not attended University yet! I worked in engineering, running my own business from 2001 and selling in 2022.

Private Investing has been a companion for me throughout my working life. I had no guidance for this and stumbled my way along. In preparation for my move from business, I became involved with SIGnet, the Serious Investor Group Network. I now Chair investor groups across the country including; London, Leeds, Manchester, Liverpool and Edinburgh. I have also started beginner groups and engaged with the Financial Independent Retire Early community. I believe that investing should be for all.

As a Private Investor, diversity is absolutely imperative, we need to hear the range of opinions and views, we want to know what we don’t know, we want to form a considered opinion. Diversity is not a benefit in name but a benefit in function. We encourage non emotional, positively intentioned debate. Ideas have to be challenged in order to check the weaknesses. If an idea cannot withstand challenge, then we need a new one!

I am very keen to help improve financial education and inclusion. I am honoured to be a part of the Diversity Project a force for good which I believe will have a far reaching positive impact on society.
