Catherine Shimmin

I am a Consultant Relations Director at Invesco.  I started my career in 2005 at Lehman Brothers on their Capital Markets programme and spent 12 years in Pan-European equity sales before transitioning onto the buyside in a consultant relations role as part of Invesco’s institutional sales team.

I am a big believer in the power of mentoring, at all stages of one’s career.  Not only mentoring and guiding those who have less experience but also, at the same time, being mentored by those in more senior positions.  Equally, I like bouncing ideas off my peer group who are also mid-career and facing similar challenges to me.  Mentoring to spread ideas to improve diversity across all levels of an organisation can also be powerful.

I would like to see more senior management teams across the finance industry choosing to be mentored by people coming up the ranks within the organisation, from a variety of different backgrounds to hear their views on the diversity debate.

I have been a business mentor with The Prince’s Trust since 2014.
