I am Australian with a mixed ethnicity background. According to a DNA test I am 45.3% Indian, 20.3% North/West European, 9.4% Irish/Scottish/Welsh, 6.6% Balkan, 5.8% Ashkenazi Jewish, 5.8% Iranian, 3.9% Iberian, 2.1% Japanese and 0.8% Middle Eastern.
My parents emigrated from India to Australia. I attended an all-girls school in Sydney. I then trained and qualified as a commercial pilot, where I was the only female in my class. I never planned to work in banking and got into it by accident. I moved to the UK in 1995.
Over the last 25+ years I have worked in US, European and Asian banks in a variety of roles across operations, trading, client service, sales and relationship management.
I am Co-Chair of the UK Black Business Resource Council at Northern Trust.
