Allyship is a commitment from individuals to remove barriers and bias, so we can all perform at our highest level. Awareness is not enough.
We all could benefit from allyship and a kinder and more open attitude. However, we don’t always find this easy.
Inherently, whatever we have been through, we find ourselves at least partially blind to other people’s points of view when they are different to our own, and yet those can have a significant impact on how that person shows up at work.
If we want to improve a sense of belonging and cohesiveness in our workplace we need to find ways to engage openly and meaningfully with our colleagues.
