Maxime Carmignac

Managing Director

Carmignac Gestion

I am white French, was part of the French Junior Team of horse show Jumping when I was a kid. I went to a co-ed school in Paris and then studied Economy and Finance at a “Grande Ecole”.

I started my career in Investment Banking as an intern at Morgan Stanley London, followed by employment at Lazard Paris. I joined McKinsey for 2 years before moving to Carmignac, a  50BN EUR Asset Management family business set up by my father in 1989, as an equity analyst covering Oil Services and Consumer Goods and then a Long Short Portfolio Manager.

I moved to NY to work for a Hedge fund, Visium, before returning to Carmignac. I became Managing Director of the UK Branch in 2013. I am also member of Carmignac Executive committee where 29% of the members are women.

I am married, my husband and I have three children (3y/3y/7m) and he works at a Hedge Fund (Cheyne Capital) as an Equity Long Short Portfolio Manager. I have 1 sister and 3 brothers and I am currently the only sibling working in the family business.
